Resolving FInanical Issues in a Divorce Can Expedite the Entire Process

Once you have decided to get a divorce, your next step is figuring out how to amicably resolve all the outstanding financial issues.  This is where most problems occur in any given divorce proceeding.  Some cases go on for months as the two parties battle it out over insignificant details such as a certain piece of furniture that was obtained during the course of the marriage.  Bitter feelings can easily come to the surface in a divorce proceeding, and many spouses harbor ill will towards each other, and therefore engage in petty squabbling in an attempt to cause as many problems as possible. 

However, if you do happen to find yourself in a divorce proceeding and the equitable division of property becomes a significant problem, there are a number of ways to fairly reach a resolution.  One of the most commonly used method of deciding who gets what is bartering.  By uses the bartering method, spouses can easily come to a resolution where both parties get something of equal value.  For example, the husband may get the boat , and the wife may get the family car.  This way, each spouse can get something that they need, without one spouse getting an unfair advantage over the other. 

If no resolution can be reached using traditional methods of exchange, the best way to solve the property dispute is to sell all of the property acquired during the course of the marriage and to divide the property equally between the spouses.  This way both spouses can rest assured that they are getting a fair shake.  However, some spouses aren’t willing to liquidate all of their property for sentimental reasons.  They still may hold a certain attachment to particular items, despite of all the hardships surrounding the separation.  The best way to solve a property dispute issue is to be honest about your own needs and to be prepared to compromise.
