Paternity

"Establishing parentage" in the state of California means deciding who the legal parents of a child are if the mother and father were not legally wed when the child was born.  If the parents were married, the law generally considers the husband to be the father.

California paternity law authorizes blood tests to be utilized in cases where the parentage is in dispute.  The alleged father, mother, and the child are required by the court to submit to these blood tests.

Our office has experience in successfully resolving parental issues, in a professional and non adversarial manner.

A paternity action is very important for fathers who have  never married the mother. Until  there is legal judgment of paternity, a biological father may be denied access to the child if there is a dispute. However once paternity is established, a father will assume the responsibilities as well as the rights of parenthood.
